DOC National Event - A Huge Success!!

Post by stefan » Tue Jun 06, 2006 10:53 am

On behalf of the Committee, I'd like to pass on a huge thanks to each and everyone of you who came to the Discovery Owners Club first national event.

We were blessed with fantastic weather and a stunning setting for both camping and the off road course.

Approx 80 vehicles were at the event with a huge 75 of those actually driving the off road course.

The event was attended by:-

Adults...............153

Children.............42

Dogs..................25

Which consisted of:-

C&C + 4X4 Course................57

C&C......................................18

4X4 Course...........................14

Day Visitors...........................4

A special thanks to Paul Walker for organising the event, his boss, the land owner for permitting it to take place, and to all who helped design and create the off road course, it was truly amazing. The constant changing of the severity of routes added to the fun, for me the highlight of the weekend was watching everyone with a huge smile on their face coming back from the off road course! You enjoyed almost 3 miles of it each time!

I'm sure everyone will agree, and as confirmed by various posts in the post event section, it was a great weekend and a brilliant opportunity to put names to faces, something we rarely achieve on this scale.

Everyone had a great time from the adults to the kids, especially catered for with a variety of games, competitions and attractions.

Congratulations to our winners of raffle prizes, the quiz and childrens colouring competitions!

A big thank you to all the Marshalls who baked in the sun and aided with recovery, and of course not forgetting the excellent work from Bill Jones in keeping the toilets and site in clean working order!

Looking forward to next year already...................................
