Central locking problems

Post by Disco200TDI » Wed Nov 22, 2006 9:47 pm

Hi all, need to pick your brains, I have issues with my disco200 central locking system. when you press button on keyfob. it tales 3 or more pushes to get the the lock to actuate then 2seconds go by and it unlocks again, then sometimes the drivers door solenoid goes crazy flicking lock up and down then stops.
hope someone can follow me and help me as I am pulling my hair out with it.

Hi Disco 200TDI,

Your problem might be as simple as a low battery in the remote control, and so is only sending a week signal back to your disco. By pressing the control two or three times you could be just confusing the central locking and so unlocking a few secounds later.
Bill.

It might be worth having a chat with the guys at http://www.remotekey.co.uk as they know their stuff when it comes to Land Rover alarms.

DISCOVERY 2003 REAR DOOR LOCK

Post by JOHN BAKER » Sun Mar 09, 2008 11:28 am

I am unable to unlock the rear door from key fob, I have to open from inside handle, once open and shut I can lock all doors from fob, but once again can not open rear door from fob, all other doors open in sequence correctly. I had removed the lock, could not see anything wrong but lubricated with wd 40, put the plug back on the lock function, so I put the door together again, and checked it worked correctly, but as soon as I reported to my wife of the success it stepped working again. Can you help with this problem, do I need to buy a new lock. or is there sum thing I am missing.

Regards John

Hi John
Looks like you need a new lock.
This happened with my driver's door. New lock sorted it.

is it the lock ot just the actuator? As these are only a tenner or so from wizard - might be worth trying first?

The wiring is different - do you know where each wire goes.
Thanks

Still sounds like a spring. all they do is tension an arm to stop it dropping down. Very small black things with 2 tiny arms. one of which hooks into a very tiny hole. One of these arms snapping off is the normal cause of the problem you describe.
Do you remember seeing these

Sorry no photo, they are too small even for small kids to get a finger through.
Look at the leavers in the lock and you will spot them/it. Should be loose if one end has broke off.
