Gaydon, Warwickshire, 18 July 2007 – Land Rover today announces its sponsorship of the Rip Curl Boardmasters 2007 – Europe’s biggest surf, skate and music festival which takes place in Newquay from 6-12 August.
Land Rover is the official vehicle of the event, providing a fleet of Freelander 2s and Range Rover Sports. It will also showcase the new ‘mini’ terrapod – a man-made off-road structure – designed to showcase the capability of our vehicles – which festival goers can drive in the new Freelander 2.
Double Olympic gold medal winning rower, self-confessed surfing fanatic and Discovery 3 owner, James Cracknell is the face of Land Rover’s association with Rip Curl Boardmasters 2007 and will attend the Festival to host Land Rover competition winners.

The event, now in its 26th year, encompasses the whole town of Newquay and attracts over 220,000 visitors each year. It is the first event in the European leg of the gruelling World Qualifying Series circuit and also features the Vans Summer
Session – the biggest vert skate competition in the UK, and ‘Unleashed’ – the festival’s music event which will be headlined by Ash, Paolo Nutini and the Guillemots.
